Delft is often described as a smaller, more intimate version of Amsterdam, with its beautiful canals, historic buildings, and buzzing cafés minus the overwhelming crowds. It’s the birthplace of the Dutch Golden Age painter Johannes Vermeer and a key player in the Netherlands scientific and cultural history. Whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or just looking for a relaxing escape, Delft has something to offer. Since I live in Voorburg we easily bike via the Vliet canal towards Delft in roughly 15-20 minutes, we visit the city often as its charm always leaves us mesmerized.
